Information You Provide
- Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, username, and password (stored securely and encrypted).
- Profile Information: Any additional information you choose to add to your profile, such as your display name.
- Hollers and Messages: The content of hollers you send, including activity descriptions, times, durations, notes, and locations you share with your friends.
- Friend Connections: Information about your friend relationships within the app.
- RSVP Responses: Your responses to hollers (going, interested, not going) and any notes you add.
- Block and Report Actions: Information about users you've blocked and reports you've submitted to maintain community safety.
Information We Collect Automatically
- Device Information: We collect device tokens to send you push notifications about hollers and friend activity.
- Usage Data: Information about how you use the app, such as features accessed and time spent in the app.
- Location Data:
- When you create a holler, we collect and store the location you specify
- When you use the feed with location filtering enabled, we access your current location to show you nearby hollers within your selected radius (5-50 miles, or "Anywhere")
- We only access your location when the app is in use (we use "When In Use" permissions, not background location)
- You can disable location-based filtering at any time, and the app will show all hollers regardless of location
- Location data is used solely to provide the core functionality of showing nearby hangout opportunities
- Push Notifications: With your permission, we send notifications when:
- Friends send hollers
- Someone RSVPs to your holler
- You receive friend requests
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and maintain the Holler service
- Send you notifications about hollers from your friends
- Connect you with friends within the app
- Show you relevant hollers based on your location preferences
- Improve and optimize the app experience
- Respond to your support requests and communications
- Respond to feedback you submit through the app
- Moderate content and maintain community safety
- Ensure the security and integrity of our service
- Comply with legal obligations
How We Share Your Information
We respect your privacy and do not sell your personal information. We only share your information in the following limited circumstances:
With Your Friends
When you send a signal, the information you include (activity, location, time, duration, and optional notes) is visible to your friends. When you RSVP to a signal, your response and any notes are visible to the signal creator and other attendees.
Service Providers
We use third-party service providers to help us operate the app, including:
- Cloud hosting services
- Push notification services (Apple Push Notification Service)
- Analytics providers
These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and only use it for the services they provide to us.
Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court or government agency).
Business Transfers
If Waygate Technologies, LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred. We will provide notice before your personal information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
Community Safety and Moderation
To maintain a safe and respectful community, we provide tools for users to:
- Block Users: Prevent specific users from seeing your hollers or sending you friend requests
- Report Users: Report concerning behavior, spam, harassment, or inappropriate content
Reports are reviewed by our team and may result in account restrictions or termination for users who violate our community guidelines. Reporter information is kept confidential, though if you delete your account, your reports will be anonymized but retained for moderation purposes.
Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we're required to retain it for legal obligations.
Your Rights and Choices
Access and Update
You can access and update your account information at any time through the app settings.
Delete Your Account
You can permanently delete your account at any time through the app settings. Account deletion will:
- Permanently delete your profile and account information
- Delete all hollers you've created
- Remove all your friend connections
- Delete all your RSVPs and responses
- Remove your device token and notification settings
- Anonymize any reports you've submitted (kept for moderation purposes)
This action cannot be undone. Your data will be deleted within 30 days, except where required for legal obligations.
Push Notifications
You can disable push notifications at any time through your device settings.
Data Export
You can download a complete copy of your data directly through the app settings at any time. This export includes your profile, hollers, friends, RSVPs, and blocked users in JSON format. No need to contact us—it's available instantly in the app.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. This includes:
- Encryption of data in transit using HTTPS/TLS
- Secure password storage using industry-standard hashing
- Regular security assessments
- Limited employee access to personal data
However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's Privacy
Holler is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us, and we will delete that information.
International Users
Holler is operated from the United States. If you are accessing the app from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States. By using Holler, you consent to this transfer.

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. For significant changes, we will provide prominent notice within the app or via email.
