Holler is designed to facilitate spontaneous, real-world hangouts among friends. We're committed to maintaining a safe, respectful community where people feel comfortable sharing their plans and connecting with others.
Community Standards
Users Must Not:
- Harass, bully, threaten, or intimidate other users
- Share sexually explicit content or make unwanted sexual advances
- Post spam, promotional content, or misleading information
- Use hate speech or discriminatory language based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics
- Impersonate others or create fake accounts
- Coordinate illegal activities or encourage dangerous behavior
- Share private information about others without consent
Expected Behavior
- Be respectful in all interactions
- Keep signals relevant (actual hangout plans, not advertisements)
- Respect others' RSVP responses
- Use the block feature rather than engaging with problematic users
Moderation Process
User Reporting
Users can report concerning behavior directly through the app:
- Tap the menu on any signal or user profile
- Select "Report or Block"
- Choose reason: Spam, Harassment, Inappropriate Content, Safety Concern, or Other
- Optionally add details
Review Process
- All reports are reviewed manually by the Holler team
- Review typically occurs within 24-48 hours (faster for safety concerns)
- We may request additional context from reporter if needed
- Reporter identity is kept confidential
Enforcement Actions
Depending on severity and frequency, violations may result in:
1. Warning
First offense for minor violations
2. Temporary Restriction
Limited account functionality for 7-30 days
3. Permanent Ban
Account termination for severe or repeated violations
Immediate Permanent Bans
The following violations result in immediate permanent bans:
- Credible threats of violence
- Child safety violations
- Coordinating illegal activity
- Severe harassment or hate speech
Appeals
Users may appeal enforcement decisions by emailing support@waygatetech.co with:
- Account username
- Date of action
- Explanation of why the decision should be reconsidered
Appeals are reviewed within 7 days.
User Tools
Blocking
- Prevents blocked user from seeing your signals
- Removes them from your friend list
- Prevents future friend requests from that user
- Takes effect immediately
Reporting
- Confidential and anonymous to reported user
- Helps us identify patterns of problematic behavior
- No retaliation allowed (doing so violates our guidelines)
Data Retention
- Reports are retained indefinitely for safety and moderation purposes
- Banned users' data is retained for 90 days to prevent ban evasion
- Reporter information is anonymized if they delete their account
Updates to Policy
This policy may be updated as our community grows and new challenges emerge. Significant changes will be communicated through the app.
