What is Holler?
Holler is a social coordination app that helps you connect with your IRL friends in a low-pressure way. Instead of endless group chat planning, you simply "holler" when you want to hang out, and your friends can respond if they're interested. Think of it like a bat signal for your friend group!
How does Holler work?
It's simple:
- Send a "holler" to your friends about what you want to do (grab coffee, play basketball, study together, etc.)
- Include when and where you're thinking
- Your friends get a push notification and can RSVP if they're interested
- Meet up and have fun!
Is Holler free?
Yes! Holler is completely free to download and use. We offer an optional tip jar where you can support development if you love the app, but all core features are free.
What devices does Holler support?
Holler is currently available for iOS (iPhone) on the App Store. An Android version is in the works—sign up for our newsletter to be notified when it launches!
Using the App
How do I add friends?
You can add friends by searching for their username or by sharing your unique friend code. Once they accept your request, you can start sending hollers to each other!
Can I send a holler to specific friends or does it go to everyone?
You choose! When creating a holler, it goes to your entire friend list.
What if I don't want to respond to a holler?
That's totally fine! The whole point of Holler is to be low-pressure. You can ignore hollers without any guilt. There are no "seen" receipts or pressure to explain why you can't make it. If you're not feeling it, just let it pass.
How do notifications work?
You'll receive push notifications when friends send hollers that include you. You can customize your notification preferences in the app settings to control when and how you're notified.
Can I use Holler for planning events far in advance?
While Holler is designed for spontaneous and near-term hangouts (today, tonight, this weekend), you can certainly plan ahead if you want. Just set the time for whenever you're thinking!
Privacy & Safety
Who can see my hollers?
Only the friends you select when creating a holler can see it. We don't have public feeds or discovery features—Holler is all about connecting with people you already know.
Does Holler track my location?
No. Holler does not track your location in the background. When you create a holler, you can optionally include a location (like "the coffee shop on Main St"), but this is just text you enter—we're not using GPS to track where you are.
What data does Holler collect?
We collect only what's necessary to make the app work: your email, username, the hollers you send, and your friend connections. We don't sell your data or show you ads. For full details, check out our Privacy Policy.
How do I block or report someone?
You can block users from your settings, which will prevent them from sending you hollers or friend requests. If someone is harassing you or violating our terms, please report them to support@waygatetech.co and we'll take action.
Can I delete my account?
Yes, you can delete your account at any time from the app settings. This will permanently remove all your data, including your profile, hollers, and friend connections.
Troubleshooting
I'm not receiving notifications. What should I do?
First, check that you've enabled notifications for Holler in your iPhone's Settings app. Go to Settings > Notifications > Holler and make sure "Allow Notifications" is turned on. If that doesn't work, try logging out and back in to the app.
The app isn't working properly. What should I do?
Try these steps:
- Make sure you have the latest version of Holler from the App Store
- Force quit the app and reopen it
- Restart your phone
- If the problem persists, contact us at support@waygatetech.co with details about the issue
I forgot my password. How do I reset it?
On the login screen, tap "Forgot Password?" and enter your email address. We'll send you a link to reset your password. If you don't receive the email within a few minutes, check your spam folder.
How do I update my email address?
You can update your email address in the app settings under Account Information. You'll need to verify the new email address before the change takes effect.
Other Questions
Can I use Holler for work/professional networking?
Holler is designed for casual, social hangouts with friends. While you can use it however you want, we recommend sticking to personal connections. For professional networking, there are other apps better suited for that!
Is there a limit to how many hollers I can send?
Nope! Send as many hollers as you want. Holler away!
Can I use Holler if I'm under 18?
You must be at least 13 years old to use Holler. If you're between 13 and 18, you should have permission from a parent or guardian.
How can I support Holler's development?
We appreciate your support! You can leave us a tip through the app's tip jar, leave a positive review on the App Store, or just tell your friends about Holler. Word of mouth is the best way to help us grow!
